What to Expect?

Whether you're a veteran attendee who hasn’t missed a conference in 20 years, or a first-timer who is eager to experience what International ACAC is all about, here are some highlights of what to expect from this year’s event:

DAY ONE: TUESDAY, JULY 10

  • The Welcome Team and other volunteers will be waiting for you at check-in to welcome you to the Conference and answer any questions you may have regarding the days ahead. Be on the lookout for a bulletin board where you can post messages, pin your location on a map, and connect with other attendees!
  • First International ACAC Conference? Plan to attend the First-Timers' Session at 3:00 PM for all the "need-to-knows".
  • Let the music play - acclaimed jazz musician, composer, and historian Dr. Michael White will be the keynote speaker at this year's Opening Ceremony.

DAY TWO: WEDNESDAY, JULY 11

  • Let the learning begin - be sure to download the Conference app for a full rundown of the sessions and schedule
  • The Exhibitor Reception (5:30 to 7:00 PM) is the perfect place to meet and mingle with our 2018 exhibitors.
  • After feeding your brain, it's time to feed your body! Wednesday's dinner will be "across the street" on Loyola's campus.
  • What's more dramatic than people in cow costumes playing dodgeball? Drag Queen Bingo! Check out this one-of-a-kind experience, along with the other fun-filled Wednesday night activities.

DAY THREE: THURSDAY, JULY 12

  • Enjoy listening to Ted Talks? Then International ACAC's Conference Chats are for you! Attend a colleague's "presentation of a lifetime" at lunchtime on Wednesday and Thursday.
  • Did someone say fall travel? Bring your calendars and start booking your school visits during the High School and College Fairs. An attendee list will be posted shortly.
  • Celebrate a wonderful week at the Closing Reception! Conference-goers will be treated to an evening Mardi Gras World, "where every day is Mardi Gras!"

DAY FOUR: FRIDAY, JULY 13

  • Keep cool off-campus by participating in our Community Service Project. As a group, we will volunteer at ArcGNO, a New Orleans based non-profit organization which supports children and adults with developmental disabilities.
  • Connect with your colleagues after the Conference by splitting transportation to the airport. Share your "backseat selfies" with us, using the #IntlACAC2018 hashtag!
  • The key to success is remembering to turn in your on-campus room key!

First-Timers' Resources

Is it your first time attending the International ACAC Summer Conference? Fear not, we have put together this webinar to help you prepare: Find out what to pack, what to expect, where to go, how to get the most out of the College/High School Fairs, plan the socials around the Conference, why Dodgeball and the 5K Run/Walk are so important and why so many members come back year after year for what we consider a “family reunion”.
